||Every student in the Touro College's School of Health Science is required to devote a minimum of twenty-five (25) hours to community service as a graduation requirement. The purpose of this requirement is to provide students in the Physical Therapy Department with an opportunity to learn from, and give back to, the larger community. Through this experience students may interact with people from different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Students also will be exposed to their families, friends, caregivers, health care and/or other community agencies. Students may work with individuals who have impairments, leading to functional limitations in the physical, cognitive, and/or social-emotional domains. Students also may elect to volunteer in agencies/programs that help people who struggle with issues related to poverty, homelessness and/or hunger. Students may complete this requirement at any time in their second or third year in the program.
