Dr. Ralph K. Garcia graduated in 1989 with a Master of Physical Therapy (MPT) degree from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia (formerly the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science). In 1997, Dr. Garcia completed his PhD in Pathokinesiology from New York University. During his graduate studies at NYU, he was a recipient of a National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR) Physical Therapy Research Training Grant and was a senior research assistant in the Human Performance Lab.

Dr. Garcia has worked at the Rusk Institute of NYU Medical Center in both the inpatient and outpatient units. At Presbyterian Hospital at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, he provided physical therapy services to organ transplant recipients who suffered from end stage liver and renal disease.

Over the past 12 years, Dr. Garcia has had faculty appointments at institutions including Touro College, Temple University, Florida International University, and Stony Brook University. He has published research abstracts and articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals and has presented research studies at several state, national, and international physical therapy conferences.

Dr. Garcia recently received the New York Physical Therapy Association's Robert Salant Award for Outstanding Abstract in the Clinical Research for his September 2008 study entitled The Reliability and Validity of a New Measure of Dynamic Balance: The Stepping-In-Place Test.

Dr. Garcia is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at the Touro College School of Health Sciences.
