Welcome From the Director
Welcome to the Occupational Therapy Department of Touro College's School of Health Sciences. I invite you to explore our website to learn more about the rewarding profession of Occupational Therapy as well as to find answers to questions you may have regarding the Occupational Therapy Program. This dual degree program, established in 1988 and offered at two campuses -- Manhattan and Bay Shore, Long Island -- has graduated hundreds of students. Graduates of the program have become successful entrepreneurs, health care administrators, educators, researchers, lobbyists, and, of course, effective occupational therapy practitioners.
The three-year curriculum embodies a well-balanced, pedagogically-sound approach to both the art and science of Occupational Therapy. Clinical fieldwork is integrated throughout the program so students may readily apply clinical skills in a variety of settings such as pediatrics, geriatrics, mental health, and physical disabilities.
Our faculty is active in research, scholarship, and service to the community and the profession at large, and there are opportunities for students to participate in these activities. We are dedicated to the education we provide and the preparation of future practitioners who will be skilled, effective, and ethical members of the Occupational Therapy profession.
