Prof. Young earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hunter College, majoring in Human Movement Studies, and a Master of Arts degree in Occupational Therapy from New York University. He began his career as a staff occupational therapist in mental health at New York State Psychiatric Institute, followed by a staff position in physical disability at St. Barnabas Hospital. He has worked as Consultant Occupational Therapist in several hospital settings, including Woodhull Medical and Mental Center, SUNY Health Science Center of Brooklyn, and Kings County Hospital. He has been a consultant to several nursing homes, and managed the Occupational Therapy Department at Dr. Susan Smith McKinney Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Prof. Young currently serves as a part-time consultant managing the Occupational Therapy Department at Oxford Nursing Home.
