Post-Professional DPT Program
The American Physical Therapy Association's (APTA) vision for the field is that by 2020, "physical therapy will be provided by physical therapists who are doctors of physical therapy, recognized by consumers and other health care professionals as the practitioners of choice to whom consumers have direct access for the diagnosis of, interventions for, and prevention of impairments, functional limitations, and disabilities related to movement, function, and health." (www.apta.org).
In response to the vision of APTA and the current trend in the field of Physical Therapy, the Touro College School of Health Sciences has offered a strong, clinically-focused Post-Professional DPT program since 2004. Housed in an institution with an established reputation in advanced graduate education, this program offers practicing Physical Therapists the opportunity to enhance their professional development in the areas of research, ethics, education and administration while developing new clinical skills in intense, clinical electives.
