||This seminar is the student's initial clinical treatment experience within the program. Standard operating procedures of the clinical experience are introduced, including planning and providing therapy sessions, completing required reports, and maintaining records. Students have the opportunity to apply their knowledge regarding disorders of speech, language, voice, and/or fluency to the treatment of individuals who manifest them. The students are expected to be able to identify appropriate goals, set up lesson plans that include S.M.A.R.T. goals, utilize IEPs and write progress reports. Supervision is provided by licensed, ASHA-certified Speech-Language Pathologists on staff. Direct treatment hours are recorded by the student and applied to ASHA clock-hour requirements with the approval of the clinical supervisor.
