||These seminars accompany the second and third (if needed) externship placements, respectively. Direct service hours for ASHA clock requirements are supervised by licensed, ASHA- certified Speech-Language Pathologists. Within the context of hands-on clinical activities at the practicum sites, students demonstrate advanced knowledge of methods and materials selected for the evaluation and treatment of individuals
with communication impairments. Students conduct treatment sessions with measurable (IEP) objectives and goals and response to intervention within a stated period of time. The seminar provides students the opportunity to participate in patient-care grand rounds, discuss alternate treatment protocols, and identify current evidence-based practices in the effective treatment of clients based on literature review.
