Dr. Denise O'Brien is an associate professor in the Graduate Program of Speech-Language Pathology. She received her B.S. from St. John's University, an M. Ed. from the University of Virginia, and her Ph.D. from New York University. Dr. O'Brien's research interests and clinical expertise are in language acquisition and disorders particularly related to infants and children with hearing loss. Her major teaching responsibilities involve the areas of language disorders and auditory-oral language development. She supervises the KASA workshop in the Graduate Program. Dr. O'Brien has presented several papers and short courses at ASHA and NYSSHLA. She has more than 20 years of experience in the field of speech-language pathology in private practice, early intervention, and schools, evaluating and treating hearing impaired infants, children, and adults. She is ASHA-certified and New York State licensed, and holds certification as a Teacher of Speech & Hearing Handicapped (TSSH). She is a member of ASHA and NYSSHLA.
